Welcome to Mother Hughes, Drogheda’s oldest family-run public house. Whilst the original house was built in the 1820s, there are records of commercial activity since 1847.
Situated on what was once the main Dublin-Belfast road, it quickly established itself as an important stop between the 2 major Irish cities of the time.

At Bubbas Cafe Garden on the grounds of Mother Hughes Bar Drogheda we serve an extensive variety of fresh buns, cakes and our speciality scones from Granny! These are fresh homemade scones made by our very own matriarch and are not to be missed if you’re looking for that authentic Irish scone experience.
